In terms of the problem with the monitor to decrease or increase the brightness you need to follow the following steps:
Step 1: you need to go in computer management which we could go though right clicking on My computer and on Manage
Step 2: After you get into Computer management click on Device Manager here you could find several tools that have been used in your computer so now go to the Display Adapter
Step 3: Different option will be shown as shown in the above figure and click any one of them as in the system you have.
Step 4 : And the following dialog box wiill appear the click on update driver

If it doesnot work ty again it with another adapter it must work .
